Polpectomy

In August of 2022, I had a polypectomy done. A polypectomy is simply a removal of a polyp. For years my cycle was very irregular and after my initial evaluation at my fertility clinic I was told  that the polyps along with me having PCOS contributed to that. I was informed by my doctor that before i could start IVF I would have to have a polypectomy to increase my chances of implantation.

This would be the second time ever in my life that i would be put under anesthesia. So, I was suuuuper nervous. The worst part of the procedure was the bowl prep. You have to basically take a bunch of laxatives and drink a bunch of Gatorade to clean out your system. I also had to take misoprostol. Which is used for medical abortions. It gives you the craziest cramps. I had no idea and since you have to clear out your bowels before the procedure you can’t or eat or drink anything to help with the cramps. When your put under anesthesia you can aspirate the food or drink and basically its a mess and some places wont perform the procedure. I drank water to help with the cramping , not a lot but still some. I had to tell the nurse before i went back for the polpectomy and they pushed the procedure back 2 hours. After all was said and done and I got back home I was okay. The recovery wasn’t bad or long just a day off work.

Now that I had the procedure done I was cleared to start the IVF process. Although I didn’t think that that would ever be something that I had to do but this was now my reality. I wasn’t afraid of the process itself just the cost. But I found a company that basically provides loans for fertility treatments. It was seamless and happened extremely fast. At that point I had the funds and was ready to go for my egg retrieval.
